Our First Week in the Marque

We are in the marque since from Monday the 22nd of February to hopefully Friday the 2nd of March. The Opus engineers decided to strengthen our classrooms which is wonderful. We will have peace of mind.

Well, the children have been loving it in the marque. They got on with the routine. A few of our parents commented that they will remember this episode in the school experience at St Mary's when they get older. Here are some of the moments they will treasure......

This is Room 4's marque. We are close to the Learning Centre.

Skating - February 24, 2012

Look at us doing skating. We had few tumbles and falls but we got there. Skating is fun!

Listening to detailed instructions is vital for our safety.

We try to put on the gears correctly.

We took off our gears when we finished. We had a wonderful time.

Healthy Eating

We had a wonderful 'Healthy Eating Day' on Friday February 10! We all had sandwiches with lettuce, ham and tomatoes. Then we had fruit, either apricot or banana. Finally we had carrot cake. What a yummy lunch!

The carrot cake was the TEAM (together everyone achieves more) effort of Room 4. The day before, we baked two big carrot cakes. We spread a large sheet of paper on the mat. Each was given the chance to peel the carrots, break the eggs on the bowl, measure the flour or sugar, stir the mixture or pour the oil. We baked the cakes in the oven at the staff room. Hmmm, the smell was so inviting after it was cooked (sorry, we forgot to take photos on what we did.

The cakes were iced the next day. We had to use different Maths strategies to divide the cakes to share with about 90 students and staff at the school. The best thing was we had fun baking!

Here we are eating healthy food!

Waitangi Day Celebration

It was a fabulous start to celebrate our first week at school on Friday February 4 at the school assembly. We celebrated Waitangi Day wearing various costumes representing our culture. Everyone looked lovely!
