Room 4's Narratives

Narratives

Narratives are stories. Most narratives we study involved the sequence of events in order, stylized language, and characters we develop that communicate a message artistically. The following  are the examples of our Narratives:

Being a President
By Lexi
We are learning to write a story about being
a president for an imaginary country.

If I am a president I will run the country candy celebrity land. It will be made of candy. The trees will be made from toffee and lollypops. The houses will be made from gingerbread and liquorice.
All the people would either be my friend’s family or my favourite celebrities like One Direction, Penny, Lilly, Jenna, Molly and my family.
Things I would do are ban elections and make money out of toffee sticks. The only law that will live is no vileness and have fun.
I wish I could run celebrity land and stuff candy in my mouth. At the moment, I’m stuck in school and has been given more homework.

Puff the Magic Dragon
By Connor
I am learning to write a narrative using three picture cards.

“Ahhh,” said Puff the Magic Dragon while he was eating roasted marshmallows, “I think I might go and sleep on a cruise ship tonight”.
He flew up to the clouds and then dropped. He was so disappointed because he landed on the wrong boat falling on his wings. He tried flying back up but he couldn’t get up because his wings were broken. He had to get to the cruise ship because it was leaving the dock in ten minutes.
He was so desperate to get to the cruise as they had so many beds that if he didn’t get on the boat he would blow up. So he looked around the boat and found a hand glider.
He got the hand glider and ran off the boat and landed in the water. He got back on and luckily his fire came back just in time.
He ran off the boat again but this time he blew fire downward and it worked. He was in the air in no time.
He was so close to the cruise ship but when he was like an inch away he ran out of fire. He fell in the water but remembered that he was a magical dragon so he used his powers and turned himself into a shark.
He swam as fast as he could but he was not fast enough because the ship was on its way to Fiji.
He used his magical powers once again and turned himself into a good and healthy dragon. He finally got on the cruise and slept on the comfortable beds while watched the colourful fireworks.

Waiting FOR GRANDAD
BY: JOSEPH UELESE

We are learning to write about a toy hospital, granddad and a teddy bear.

Toot, toot, you make way as my toy firefighter drove through the track. Keep them alive until we got to the toy hospital. The people were running out of air from the fire. We just made it on time. Once again we saved the day.

Ding, dong, ding, dong. Granddad, grandad you made it my party. I got a new ball from Dad. I also got firefighter toys from mum.

What did you get for me? Grandad you found my Ted.  I wanted to have a teddy bear named Ted. You’re the best Grandad.

THE POLLUTION
By Lucy
We are learning to write a story about a tree, an angel and the cupboard.

I put on my gas mask and stepped outside. The sky was the same as normal, orange in colour. The grass was pink. I ran over to a fake tree wishing it was real. I wanted to climb it or build a tree house. But I couldn’t.

I walked back inside the house and took my gas mask off. I’m not supposed to go outside without an adult. It’s too dangerous with all the poisonous gas around.

I slowly walked to the dull kitchen and opened the cupboard. It was empty. I went to mum and dad’s room, expecting them to be reading. They weren’t there.

Suddenly I heard a “three, two, one”. I then saw heaps of little cracks forming on the walls. I knew immediately it was a clean out.

I felt the gas come on immediately and suddenly I saw an angel. She was beautiful and we flew to heaven together!

The Boy and His Boat        By Jenna
We are learning to write a narrative about a chair, a boat and a young boy.

“Daddy when I grow up I want to be just like you but sail around the world,” said the young boy. His father answered, “Not very soon, son you’ll have to be fifteen.” The young boy got so angry, he ran away with fifteen hundred dollars. The young boy started to lie. So he went to the pier to buy a boat. He said to the boat sellers, “Man I’d like to get that boat for my dad on his birthday tomorrow. Here’s the money, thanks,” he said. He quickly ran the engine and away he went.

Five years later, he was sailing around the world by himself. One strange day when he was coming to New Zealand, he had a vision. There were chairs popping up. He could not take it anymore, so he jumped out of the boat and tried to swim to New Zealand but it was dark at night.

He saw a flashing light in the distance. Then he started to wave. He got rescued but they were pirates. He was held captive for twenty years and no one ever saw him again.

My Greatest Accomplishment
By Cortia
We are learning to write a story
with lots of adjectives.

My greatest accomplishment would be to play professional rugby league and play for the Warriors, just like my uncle who plays for Newcastle. I would play this game until I retire.

If I have done that I would never stop playing. If I didn’t make it I would play soccer and try to be a professional soccer player.

My other great accomplishment would be to play in the Olympics in long distance running. I like to be in the 3000 meter run.

I would love to do one of these three. It would be amazing.  But if I didn’t I would play one of the games with my friends.

My Jolly Grandfather
by: Samantha
We are learning to write a narrative story using three words, a Grandfather, a picture, and a guitar.

Yay! Today is my birthday, guess what I got? I got a flashy red guitar from my grandfather!

I wish I could go to Alaska and thank him for the wonderful guitar. But my mum wouldn’t let me because it costs a lot of money! So i decided to take a picture of me with my flashy red guitar! Snap!

I asked mum if I can mail it to my jolly grandfather and she said, “Sure! “

After a few days my jolly grandfather got the picture. He said, “Thank you for the picture.”

If I Could Have My Own Planet
                                    By Benzo Ancheta
We are learning to use lots of adjectives and adverbs.

If I could have my own mysterious planet it will be called Candyland. It’s my favourite imaginary planet. I will be the first one to discover this planet. It will be like our pleasant earth but without much water and big, white clouds.

The magical trees will be made of colourful lollypops and the huge rivers and blue seas will be made of soda. The small houses will be made of delightful chocolate, and everything else will be made of sweet candy.

I will let my Filipino family and best friends live in my planet. We will make candy people and live with them. I like other planets but Candyland is  the best.

If I Could be Someone for a Day

By: Iuvale
We are learning to write a narrative story
on what I can be for a day.

If I could be someone else for a day I will be the monkey king, the ruler of all monkeys. I will be wearing a crown like a handsome little man.
If I am the monkey king I will be very smart. I could even go to space and meet aliens. I can learn about the solar system which is like eight planets joined together as a family.
But sometimes I can be very cheeky and naughty. I can be quite bored because there is no sign of danger around and all I could do is just sit.
Monkeys are really healthy because they eat bananas. They can swing on vines and climb trees and go up so high. They can see the whole world or search for help and that is why I want to be the monkey king for a day.

If I had my own planet.....
By Molly
We are to write a story using
lots of adjectives and adverbs.
If I had my own planet.....it will be Molly’s planet full of gold.
I love gold so much it is awesome to have all over my planet. “Hey, Fredrick,” I said, “what are you doing in my planet?” “I am just stopping by your planet,” he said.  “It is beautiful, thank you Fredrick.” “I better get going ok? Bye.”
“Hello, Molly how are you?” I ask. “I’m very good thank you. Your planet is remarkable, it is so terrific and delightful,” said Jane. “I better get going ok? Bye.
My planet is huge and you will be inquisitive if you are there.  There are a lot of gold things around. I would you like you to come and visit it.  I will let others take home some gold as a gift.
“Wow sensational planet, John I love the trampolines everywhere. They are awesome. May I jump on one of them?”  I asked. “Of course you can, Molly.” “Yay great this is fun. Okay we better get going.”
It was so much fun today and I love jumping on the trampoline in my planet.

I’m Lost
By Isidora
We are learning to write a narrative using interesting descriptive words.

There I was on the ground waiting for someone to hopefully show up. I thought for a minute, I’m in the middle of the desert. I was so thirsty all I had left was a bottle with nothing inside it. I was so worried I wouldn’t survive.
Meanwhile I started walking again until I saw a tank. I started to walk towards it thinking it would have water inside it. It was a miracle it had water. I quickly took my water bottle out and poured some water in I was so relieved. I started to walk faster.
Later on I saw an elephant I said to myself, “Maybe it’s a sign that I’m close to a little village.” I started to see some people from a not so far distance. “Thank you, thank you!” I shouted.
I finally got to the little village with scratches on my face. The people saw me and came rushing to meet me because they saw that I was hurt and tired. So they picked me up, took me to a big desk and let me lay down. They took care of me until my friends showed up. Finally I was able to go home.

THE ELF
by Bradley
We are learning to write a narrative story about a cruise ship, an elf, a treasure chest and an island.

I woke up. “Huh!” I exclaimed.  I remembered I was on Princess Andromeda sailing on the Mediterranean sea.

I stepped onto the deck, ah fresh air cough, cough.  I got salt in my mouth so I went into my room. Woah, an elf.  “Do you like climbing?” she asked. “I don’t know,” I replied.

I put on my harness and put the carabineers in place. I gripped the first rock and kept going on. I’d reached the top which no one else ever had.

I fell through the top. “Ouch,” I said.  I felt like I was dying, then I saw something that would change my life – a treasure chest!

I felt like a rich person with all this beautiful gold at my disposal forever! I walked around my pockets full of gold. I’d fallen again but this time into the water. I saw an island but there were no signs of life. There were no inhabitants, nothing. My last thought was, this was why there was no one else in the boat as I was pulled near the rotor.

            The Hunted Rain Castle
                                            By Lilly
We are learning to write a narrative about rain,
a castle and a stranger.

One lovely sunny morning there was a stranger from a different city. The little town was called Moon-star. If you want to know why it is called Moon-star it is because the moon is always the shape of a star.
The stranger saw a castle up on a hill. The villagers told the stranger it is hunted and it is called rain castle because it always rained up on the hill and that it was never sunny.
The stranger said in a bold voice, “I am going to make it sunny in the castle up the hill.” He brought a bottle of water and was walking up the steep hill. He tipped it over on the ground. The stranger knocked on the door and the door opened automatically. Finally the sun shone and it did from then on.

The stranger opened up the long curtains and then went down to the village and brought a huge bucket of paint. The stranger painted the inside and out. They renamed the village and the castle Sunnyville. They built a statue of the man in the centre of the village. The castle was not one bit hunted. Everyone lived happily ever after.

The Very Brave Ant
By Michelle Smading

We are learning to write a narrative about an ant, a broom and a river.

It was a beautiful sunny day in Antsville, because it was the first day of spring. After a long winter’s season the ants were looking forward to the warm sun. Suddenly the evil witch was on her way to Antsville to destroy every single ant that lived happily.
With her crooked broom and her pointy witch hat she headed off. “Ha, ha, ha,” grouched the evil witch. Soon I will destroy every tiny little ant living in Antsville and their land will be mine.
But there was one very brave ant that wasn’t afraid. This ant was the smallest ant out of all the others. This ant had a plan. He found a huge washed up bucket floating in a nearby river. He pushed it up to land and filled it up with water. When the witch arrived to Antsville, with one heave the ant tipped the cold water on the witch. The witch disappeared.
Years later no one had known where the evil witch had disappeared to. That brave ant had saved every little ants’ lives. Even though he was the smallest he accomplished a big brave deed indeed.

The Hungry Angel
By Ijaz Ah Kuoi

We are learning to write a made up story with three things a tree, a cupboard and an angel.

“That is just sick,” I said. A dog was peeing on an orange tree. Then I called out Isra but I knew that Isra went with mum and dad.

So I went back inside then the dog just aaaahhhh never mind as I was going to the kitchen. I saw an angel looking in the cupboard.

“Why are you looking in my cupboard?” I asked.“It’s because I’m hungry” said the angel.  I gave him chocolate and he gave me back $10.

Eventually my mum, dad and Isra came back and I told them what happened but they didn’t believe me. I just walked to my bedroom and stayed there.

If I had my own planet……
By Ciaran
We are learning to write a narrative.

I woke up defiantly not on Earth anymore. I was on a different planet. I looked out my window I saw a lot of me.

It was creepy seeing a lot of me, so I went out. I saw a telescope and looked in it to see were Earth is. I didn’t see Earth but I saw a different planet. It had my friend’s face on it. It was Connor’s face.
But I found out later on, that it isn’t actually Connor’s planet. It is Saturn and we surf on the rings of Saturn. It felt good surfing with Connor.

           The Horrendous Noise
By Tim

We are learning write a story about a
horrendous noise.

Honk, honk!  What’s that noise? I thought it was my alarm.  Someone broke into my car.  Oh, no they took my wallet! I returned to my car and tried turning the alarm off. But it didn’t turn off, the noise was ear piercing. Everyone looked at me. I was turning red with embarrassment.
Luckily I had a plan. I visited my friend who was a mechanic. “ Hi, can you fix my car alarm?” I asked. “It will cost you twenty dollars,” he said. “Ok,” I said.
We walked back to the car and changed the car battery. I said thanks and then the alarm stopped. I was so relieved that it stopped.
