Keeping Ourselves Safe

Constable Kate was with us twice during the second week of the term to teach us on practical and relevant ways to keep safe.

We formed into groups and decided which are the most dangerous situations and least dangerous we encounter in our lives.

These are examples of situations we had to work on in a group.

Star is a meaningful acronym for us. We know what to do if we are in situations which we are not happy about. S means stop, T is think, A means to act and R is report.

Different cartoon stories were given to each group. We had to identify each cartoon story. Is it a bribe, a trick or a secret?

We did a brainstorm on the different equipment we have on cyberspace - the digital technology. We recognized the dangers these things have when they are not used appropriately.

We are grateful to Constable Kate for the valuable lessons she gave us on how to keep ourselves safe.

Fabric and Sewing

We're always looking forward to our sewing session. We learned how to sew hemming stiches which is handy to know. Here are the examples of love-hearts as our last project. Two pieces of materials were cut in heart shapes using the pinking scissors. They were sewn together with running stitches about one centimeter from the edge around the heart. We left an opening and put stuffing inside then sew the ribbon to hold it and close by sewing completely. Our love-hearts really look colourful. We can use them as a pin cushion or as decoration in our room.

Most of us wanted to make another one but we ran out of time. perhaps we have to see a cushion next time.

Tabloid Games

On September 27 we had tabloid games which was organised by the Year 7-8 students. There were seven fun stations and one of them which Mrs Wilkins looked after were the three-legged race and at the same time the potato race. Children from different ages were divided into seven groups and had to play on each station for 10 minutes. Everyone had an awesome fun time.

Everyone waited patiently which group they belong to.

James joined in the three legged race with Miss P.

Tim and Bradley were happily trying to synchronize their steps.

Phebe and Betsity challenged themselves by doing the potato race at the same time.

Olivia and a friend did their best slowly so as not to drop the potato.

Scott and Aaron could run fast on three legs.

Michelle and Lilly were focusing.

Ricah and Marik did really well at their own pace. Weren't they cute?

Kiana and Jenna were taking their time.

Ijaz and Patrick made it looked so easy peasy.

Molly and Iuvale did really well.

Conor and Joseph were focusing-that's the way, Conor.

Lexi and Isidora had smiles and did it with flair and so did Brooklyn and Jhardel.

Benzo and Enrico were sweet, adding brotherly love when racing.

Olivia and Samantha confidently got on with it.

Each pair was about to race against each other.

Sam took time to help Jana.

Ready, set, go...James and Amby were winning this race!

Finally we had to wait in the queue for our sausages! What a fun time we had!
